Returning volunteers, complete Steps 2-3.
Step 1: Register online with HISD
1. Go to Volunteer in Public Schools (VIPS).
2. Click “I have never used this program. Register me as a new user.”
3. Type “YES” in the Disclaimer screen.
4. Fill out the registration form.
Step 2: Show proof of identification at Kolter
Show proof of identification at the Kolter front office during school hours. Acceptable identification are:
- Driver’s License issued by any state in the U.S.
- Passport
- Identification card with picture issued by any state in U.S.
- Official U.S. Military ID
- Matricula Consular (Consular ID Card)
- Resident Alien Card
That’s it! In about 2 weeks, you will be notified by the Kolter office that your registration has been approved.
Step 3.
1. Go to PTO Manager.
2. New users - create a new account. You will have the opportunity to tell us your contact information and your volunteer interests. Make sure you follow the 3 steps in PTO Manager.
PTO Manager Step 1- your information;
PTO Manager Step 2- your interests; and
PTO Manager Step 3-your Kolter students’ info.
3. Returning users - log in to PTO Manager & update your volunteer preferences & your Kolter students info.
4. A PTO representative will contact you with an opportunity fit for you!
