Kon’nichiwa, Kolter Students!
I am writing you from The Land of the Rising Sun, but you probably know this country by a different name. This Asian country is made up of 6,852 islands which sit along the “Pacific Ring of Fire,” so it has many volcanos. In fact, this country’s highest point is actually an active stratovolcano that last erupted in 1708 and now attracts visitors every year. Determine the mountain’s name, and you will discover which country I am standing in! I’ve got to go catch the Bullet Train! I’ll write more next week!

All Kolter families are invited to the Kolter Prairie for an evening — and morning! — of camping fun.
Hola, Kolter Students!
While cheering on the US Olympic team this summer, I fell in love with South America! Instead of visiting Rio, I went to a country that borders the Caribbean Sea. This country is famous for being home to the world’s tallest waterfall, Kerepakupai Meru, which sits 979 meters high! These days this natural wonder is often referred to by another name. Can you figure out what else this waterfall goes by? (Hint: Its other name refers to an American aviator who was the first to fly over the falls.) Figure out the alternate name of this waterfall, and you will know Where in the World I am!
Love, KC
